Colours of the Soul: A musical journey across India’s soundscapes

Gifted thumri singer Barnali Chattopadhyay trained under the great musicologist Dr. Kumar Prasad Mukhopadhyay of the Agra gharana. She also sought guidance from thumri queen Shobha Gurtu and legendary thumri singer Girija Devi. Her mellifluous voice coupled with perfect classical discipline has earned her rave reviews. She has been performing extensively at distinguished platforms across the country and is empanelled at All India Radio and Doordarshan. She has sung for films, worked with fusion groups and performed at international festivals in Bangladesh and Spain and at the SAARC Theatre Festival 2014 where her voice was noted as one of the show-stealers.

At our first Digital Baithak, Barnali will present ‘Colours of the Soul’, a musical journey across the soundscape of India through thumris, ghazals and bhajans.
