Sharat Chandra Srivastava

A gifted musician who straddles both rock and Hindustani classical music, Sharat is one of North India’s leading classical violinists who has toured across the world. He was a noted member of India’s premier rock band Parikrama for twelve years and also the leader of the Delhibased fusion group Mrigya.

Sharat was trained and nurtured as a violinist since the age of 7 by the renowned violinist, Late Pandit Joi Srivastava, his grandfather and guru. He has been on stage with Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pt. Birju Maharaj. A recipient of the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India, Sharat teaches violin at the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi, and has conducted masterclasses at the University of Edinburgh, Royal Scotland Academy of Music and Drama, University of Stratclythe, Glasgow, Scotland.
